Guadalajara Ciudad de México

2026 World Cup in Mexico

We're off to Mexico!

The players pulled it off — Czechia is going to the World Cup. I'm sharing inspiration so you enjoy Mexico to the fullest and come home with stories you'll be telling for years.

About me

My name is Radim, to Mexicans Checo

In 2019 I moved to Guadalajara, Mexico, and spent four years of my life there. Not as a tourist — as a local. I lived there, shopped at the markets, drove across the city from end to end and learned how things work in Mexico (and how they don't).

On this site you'll find what no guidebook will tell you — tips, observations and recommendations from someone who actually lived there. I want you to come back from Mexico not just with photos from the stadium, but with experiences that stay with you for life. And honestly — whoever truly experiences Mexico keeps coming back. You'll see for yourself.

The championship

2026 World Cup in Mexico

The tournament matches are played across several Mexican cities. Guadalajara and its Estadio Akron — that's my home turf. Four years of living there give you a completely different perspective than you'll find in any guidebook. The championship is also played in Ciudad de México, the capital and one of the largest metropolises in the world.

Whichever match you decide to go to — Mexico is a country devoted to football. It's hosting the World Cup for the third time. In 1970, right here in Guadalajara, Pelé scored against Czechoslovakia and led Brazil to its third title. Sixteen years later, in Mexico, Maradona produced his legendary "goal of the century". Both tournaments are among the most famous in history, and the atmosphere in Mexican stadiums remains one of the most electrifying in the world.

Mexico for real

Forget the headlines

I understand that the media image of Mexico can raise questions among fans. You often hear only about the risks, but the reality I lived for four years in Guadalajara is diametrically different. Mexico is a country with incredible energy and hospitality.

Mexico is a country that draws you in — with its food, its music, the atmosphere in the stadiums and on the streets. The combination of the World Cup and Mexican culture will be something you've never experienced before. Fans from all over the world, local energy and experiences you'll remember long after you get home. This will be more than a holiday.

You'll fly in for the football, but the biggest show will play out right in the streets.

Why look forward to Mexico?

  • Incredible warmth: Mexicans are among the most hospitable people you'll ever meet.

  • Cultural richness: Every street in Guadalajara or CDMX tells a story you won't see in the media.

  • Mexican food: You'll taste authentic flavours that turn every bite on the street into an unforgettable experience — and that rightfully belong on UNESCO's world heritage list.

  • Mexico surrealistico: You'll experience a country where reality blends with magic and where even the greatest chaos makes perfect sense amid a flood of colours and history.

What I can do for you

Your contact from Mexico

Itinerary

I can't help you with a tailor-made itinerary — everyone has different tastes and priorities. But I believe the information on this site will be a useful basis as you put yours together. If you have questions, write me an email — if time allows, I'll gladly reply. I'll gradually turn the most common questions into an FAQ section right here on the site.

Arrangements

If you need help arranging something that the usual services can't cover — let me know, I'll try to help. I have local contacts in Guadalajara whom I can involve if anything needs sorting out on the ground, well ahead of your arrival.

Tickets

With tickets I unfortunately can't help you — quite the opposite. I'll be honest: if you could help me get tickets for the Czech matches in Mexico, or for other games in Guadalajara, I'd be immensely grateful. In the ticket lotteries so far I've had no luck.

Personal guiding

If, even after reading my recommendations, you still have worries about the trip to Mexico, I'll gladly accompany you in person on the ground. We'll agree on the terms individually. I'm not a travel agency — I'm one person, so my capacity is limited to a single group for the duration of the Czech matches. That's why I prefer working with companies and organised groups.

I'm not a travel agency or a professional guide. I'm a person who lived in Mexico and knows it from the inside. The information on this site comes largely from my own memory and experience — and that has its limits. So take my tips as inspiration and double-check the key things with other sources too.
